Modern novels are incredibly idiomatic and at times it's almost impossible for younger or non-native readers to fully understand the words that can create the most wonderful images in our minds. This is where Gateway Education's companion workbooks and notes come in very handy indeed. Concentrating on the historical, social, cultural or religious context and background and how this relates to wider story, our workbooks try and cover all of the individual vocabulary that a developing reader may come across before listing, discussing and pulling apart all of the simile, idiom, metaphor and different literary styles that each novel has to offer.
Hundreds of pre and post reading discussion points per novel are also contained in our workbooks enabling educators or parents to discuss factual and hypothetical situations with the reader.
Gateway Education provide 'Gateway Bookclub' classes at selected schools around Hong Kong although the majority of our classes are based in our Jordan offices right next to Diocesan Girl's School, just 30 seconds outside Exit B at the MTR station.
